What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Technician- Entry Level position at AKS?
AKS is expanding and looking for an entry level shop technician. This job will provide an opportunity to work on a variety of tasks in both shop and shipping room.
JOB SUMMARY
Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work in machine shop:
- Set up, operate, and monitor machines
- Inspect, straighten and clean materials as needed
- Use precision tools e.g. calipers to measure materials
- Collaborate with team to meet production goals
Work in shipping room:
- Pull and pack orders
- Restock shipping supplies
HOURS
Full time – Day Shift. Minimum 40 hours a week. Some overtime will be mandatory. Paid holidays.
COMPENSATION
Starting pay $15 - $21 an hour DOE. Overtime is any time after 40 hours in workweek and is paid at 1.5 times regular pay.

Experience and expertise in any of the following areas a plus:
· Metal shop – light fabrication, tool repair and maintenance
· Manual mill and manual lathes
· Waterjet
· CNC Swiss lathe
· CNC milling machines
· Inventory management
· Six Sigma - Lean Management
· Aerospace manufacturing
· Military service
