Plant Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all plant process equipment, minor routine maintenance, and equipment and facility cleaning. As a Plant Operator you will be expected to learn safety policies and procedures, the ethanol process from corn to finished product and equipment basics. Plant Operators are also exepected to understand and use Standard Operating(SOP) and Energy Control(ECP) procedures.
Al-Corn operates 24/7 all year long. The Plant Operator position entails 12 hour rotating shifts, participation in the on-call program, and occasional scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
During a typical day you will:
1. Learn about all ethanol plant process operations including grain handling, cook, fermentation, distillation, drying, oxidizers, boilers, and water treatment.
2. Monitor equipment operation and make adjustments as necessary.
3. Make process adjustments per lead and supervisor while utilizing Standard Operating Procedures(SOP).
4. Prepare equipment for maintenance by applying LOTO per Energy Control Procedures(ECP) and writing Safe Work Permits for Maintenance to complete the work.
5. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and planned or unplanned repairs including assisting the Maintenance teams when required.
6. Maintain clean equipment, walkways and plant grounds.
7. Follow all relevant safety and compliance policies/procedures in the execution of job tasks.
Competencies/Preferred Job Experience
1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. 2 years experience in plant operations or equivalent industrial environment preferred. No experience necessary.
3. Ability to read and understand safety data sheets (SDS) and chemical labels
4. Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software applications
5. Possess a valid drivers license and be able to drive
