Essential Functions

- Provide and maintain an outstanding customer experience that can only be found at Al’s Garden and Home for all guests who enter the retail location.
- Ensure all products in your assigned area receive proper water, nutrients and plant maintenance.
- Ensure all retail items are signed and tagged appropriately and accurately.
- Observe plant material for quality assurance including disease and pest damage.
- Responsible for stocking, filling in product and keeping plants spaced appropriately to their growing habits and needs for all assigned areas.
- Assist with unloading trucks at the receiving dock and inspect incoming orders for quality.
- Develop knowledge of other departments to offer cross-departmental customer service; in addition to learning to use Point-of-Sale (POS) system to assist in helping customers at registers.
- Embrace a safety culture of injury and accident prevention by following safety policies and procedures.
- Achieve daily goals as communicated by the store management.
- Assist with all other related tasks or duties as assigned by store management.
- Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of annuals, perennials, houseplants, trees and shrubs or the willingness to seek and learn product.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of computer software: Excel, Word, POS system.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends with overtime during busy peak seasons.
Physical Demands
This job requires the ability to work standing, walking, bending, and lifting 50 lbs. continuously throughout the day.
Work Environment
This job can operate on the sales floor, indoor and outdoor, and in an office environment as business requires.
