Leadership Position Description
Position Title: Senior Adult Pastor
Reports To: Executive Pastor

Principle Function
The function of the Senior Adult Pastor is to provide a balanced program of ministry to
all Senior Adults through biblical teaching, dynamic programming of events, meaningful
ministry and mission opportunities, and faithful shepherding in accordance with the
overall mission and vision of FBC Pelham.
Specific List of Responsibilities
Biblical Teaching
The Senior Adult Pastor will lead bible study with senior adults and preach on
occasion as asked by the pastor.
Programming
Enlist, train and advise senior adult leaders for all areas of ministry.
Be available to assist in all areas of Pastoral ministry as needed.
Cooperate with and support the church program of visitation by personal
participation and enlistment of senior adults and senior adult leaders.
Provide for the training of leaders and senior adults in personal evangelism. A
priority of the Senior Adult Pastor is to see that all senior adults have been
presented with the plan of salvation.
Planning and implementation of monthly senior adult luncheons / seasonal
evening events.
See that all programs of the church are communicated to senior adults with
emphasis on programs and opportunities designed just for senior adults.
Strengthen and expand the Homebound Ministry, making personal visits on a
systematic basis to homebound.
Ministry and Missions
Plan and facilitate annual mission trip for senior adults and assist with other
mission trip activities and plan recreational / fellowship outings for seniors.
Shepherding
Make weekly hospital visits and keep the staff and congregation informed of
those in the hospital or longterm care.
Other Duties
Other General Responsibilities
Basic Personal Responsibilities

Believe in the inerrant word of God.

both mature and weak Christians, as well as unbelievers. Ensure that all actions
reflect honorably on Christ and the church.
Must be called by the Holy Spirit to serve in this office and have training or have
documented experience to serve in the capacity to which called.
Must be skilled in personal evangelism.
Must have ability to deal effectively and tactfully with church personnel, members
and the general public.
Requirements
Seminary Degree
At least 2 years of successful, full-time ministry experience

- Supply articles on a periodical basis for use in the FBC Pelham publications
- Develop senior adult budget and give full support to the operating budget of
- Adhere to church approved guidelines as set forth in FBC Pelham’s
