Position Summary
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Instructor / Clinical Coordinator is responsible for applying their expertise to develop, maintain, and deliver education services to students through creating and maintaining core curriculum, ensuring delivery of core curriculum, preparing course plans and materials, and coordinating clinical education with didactic education. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Instructor / Clinical Coordinator will evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of clinical experiences and provide coordination, instruction, and documented evaluation and progression of student clinical performance. The Instructor / Clinical Coordinator will also assist in ensuring continued compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional accreditation agencies.
The DMS Instructor / Clinical Coordinator will adhere to the guidelines as specified by the Trenholm State Community College Policy and Procedures Manual, all administrative levels of the college, and the Board of Trustees for the Alabama Community College System in addition to the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve in a supervisory capacity by managing administrative details relative to clinical education of the program and courses in compliance with Alabama Community College System and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
- Prepare clinical education schedule for each semester.
- Plan and teach classes in DMS, including simulated laboratories and clinical experiences in accordance with approved course outlines and the program of study.
- Secure new clinical sites with clinical affiliate agreements.
- Communicate with program advisory committee members, employers, and former students to receive guidance for upgrading curriculum and instruction.
- Provide academic advisement and assistance to students in career decision-making, program planning, registration, and job seeking.
- Maintain accurate student records including student attendance, student grades, enrollment records, competency records, etc.
- Maintain appropriate licensure and credentials.
- Serve on departmental, divisional, and institutional teams or committees.
- Coordinate with the college placement office to identify potential employment opportunities for students and to identify students interested in job placement.
- Collaborate with instructors and administrators to make decisions related to curriculum development, syllabi review, textbook selection, and classroom and clinical instruction methodologies.
- Recruit students for the program.
- Accept teaching assignments which may include day, evening, and weekend classes as well as at off-campus sites.
- Attend faculty meetings, in-service programs, and other college programs and functions, such as commencement and award ceremonies.
- Maintain compliance with College and program-related accreditation and certification standards
- Participate fully in the institutional planning process and assist in carrying out the overall instructional mission of the College.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean, Executive Vice President / Vice President of Instructional Services, or President.
