What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete Finisher position at Alabama Grading & Excavation?
What you will do:
- Form work: Checking and aligning forms, bolting, nailing, and blocking
- Pouring: Facilitating concrete pouring
- Spreading: Spreading, leveling, and smoothing the concrete using specialized equipment
- Finishing: Using screeds to remove excess concrete and fill gaps, and molding expansion joints and edges
- Treatments: Applying curing or surface treatments
How you will help:
- Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as engineers, electricians, plumbers, truck drivers, and operators.
- A valid government ID and reliable transportation.
- They should also be familiar with proper handling of materials and equipment,
- Be able to lift and carry materials and tools weighing up to 50 lbs repeatedly and continuously over time. Other physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing, and kneeling.
- Concrete finishers should also be able to work in environments where temperatures and noise levels can fluctuate, and have near visual acuity to review written documentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Typical schedule:
- 50-hour work weeks. 7-5:30 M-F (depending on job and crew needs)
- 2-hour radius around Gadsden - do not report to shop daily but 1x weekly meeting at the shop
