As an Instructional Aide for E.H. Gentry’s General Services department, you will be responsible for working closely with our teachers in the classrooms. In General Services, our students are not deaf and are not blind. Rather, our students have various disabilities such as: autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, etc. General Services students attend Gentry from Talladega and the surrounding counties.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have prior experience working in an educational setting.
- Must have a working knowledge of Google Suite.
- Must be able to provide tutoring for students, as indicated by the instructor, in the areas of reading, math, language, money management, digital literacy, etc.
- Must be able to utilize various office equipment such as laminators, copy machines, printers, and shredders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Commercial Drivers License-CDL
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Provide classroom coverage and assistance for Independent Living Skills (ILS), Adult Ed, pre-adult Ed, Evaluation, other areas, and department as needed.
- Provide transportation and supervision while on field trips.
- Type, file, and duplicate teaching material as required.
- Assist with keeping accurate student files, data, certificate outcomes, student attendance records, instructional documentation, student outcomes data via spreadsheets, as well as student schedules.
- Observe and record student behavior such as attendance, social behavior, hygiene, and dress.
- Work one-on-one with students and provide tutoring related to reading, math, language, money management, digital literacy, etc. as indicated by the Instructor.
- Assist with test administration, grading tests, and/ or monitoring student testing.
- Assist in providing campus tours, as needed.
- Act as a team player to provide departmental assistance.
- Dress and conduct yourself professionally.
- Participate in required in-services, training sessions, and workshops provided.
- Must be mature, self-motivated, and able to work without direct supervision.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must possess a valid Alabama Drivers License. Must have a safe automobile with comprehensive insurance for use on the job and provide proof of insurance. Must be able to be insured by the AIDB insurance carrier.
- Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.
SALARY: $14.87 - $17.33 Scale C4 Rank 27 (High School/GED)
$16.24 - $19.13 Scale C4 Rank 31 (30 Semester Hours Related Field)
$16.62 - $19.59 Scale C4 Rank 32 (60 Semester Hours Related Field)
230 days.
Direct deposit required.
This is a non-exempt position, and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
