POSITION: Temporary Transition Aide - Special Projects
NRSC STEM Academy Training: February 1 - July 30, 2025
Robotics Camp (Talladega, AL): June 1-7, 2025
Alabama STEM Academy (Decatur, AL): June 8-28, 2025
Florida STEM Academy (Jacksonville, FL): July 8-30, 2025
If you are not in Special Projects, you may bid on this position/assignment so long as you are not scheduled to work your primary AIDB job_ on the assignment date(s). _
· POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must be enrolled in high school or college (high school juniors, seniors, and college students encouraged to apply).
- Have volunteered at any of previous Special Projects camps or events.
· PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working for STEM Academy.
- Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of Deaf education and/or Deaf culture.
· PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist camp leaders and staff to whom assigned by providing guidance and direction to campers, assisting with supervision, and performing other duties.
- Carry out camp activities under teacher/counselor direction.
- Work cooperatively as a team with other camp personnel to best serve the students.
- Deal with emergency situations in a calm and logical manner.
- Use tact and friendliness with parents and all other non-staff personnel in a constant public relations program.
- Assist chaperones and students on field trips, to and from area locations.
- Attend and participate in training sessions, camp meetings, and discussions.
- Assist during meals while in public and in the cafeteria as needed.
- Assist counselors when they are assisting others.
- Assist in any extracurricular activities assigned to the department.
- Learn and use American Sign Language at NRSC summer camps.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Upon being offered employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."
SALARY: $19.88 per hour Scale SI Rank HS
This is a non-exempt position and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
