RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
- Install, configure, and program building automation systems (BAS) including HVAC, lighting, and security systems.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of BAS to ensure systems are operating efficiently and effectively.
- Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to design and implement control strategies for new and existing systems.
- Conduct system testing and commissioning to verify proper operation and performance.
- Provide technical support and training to facility staff on BAS operations and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in building automation technology and industry best practices.
System Design and Implementation
- Helps to design and develop building automation control systems tailored to the specific needs of the facility.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of BAS components and software.
System Maintenance and Optimization
- Perform regular maintenance and updates to BAS hardware and software.
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Conduct system diagnostics and troubleshoot issues to ensure uninterrupted operation.
Technical Support
- Provide technical support and training to building management and maintenance staff.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including system diagrams, specifications, and operational procedures.
Project Management
- Manage BAS-related projects from conception through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and internal teams to coordinate project activities.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all BAS installations and operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards.
- Implement best practices for energy management and sustainability.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Level of Supervision: Will have to supervise contractors and maintenance technicians when working on BCS projects.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
- Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
- LEED Accreditation
- Relevant manufacturer certifications (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell)
Required Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with building automation systems.
- Proficiency with multiple BAS platforms such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, and Schneider Electric.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and control theory.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum 3 years field experience in the HVAC controls industry including DDC Systems commissioning, software integration operation, calibration, and experience with pneumatic controls.
- Understanding of the construction industry with emphasis in mechanical/electrical fields.
- Proven track record of completing jobs on schedule, being self-motivated, and achieving full customer satisfaction.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in BAS or related fields.
- Experience with energy management systems and strategies.
- Familiarity with network protocols and IT infrastructure related to BAS.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of Automated Logic commissioning tools and field circuit debugging skills a plus.
- Knowledge of DDC control theory and applications pertaining to the HVAC/Control preferred.
- Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Competency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio.
- Proficient in BAS software and platforms such as Tracer SC, Honeywell Building Management Solutions, Johnson Controls Metasys, or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
- Effective project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements
This position has the following special requirements:
- Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment more than 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items to 50lbs.

Exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and potentially hazardous materials.
Expected Hours of Work
Typically 8am-5pm M-F. When projects or issues arise, could have to work on nights and weekends.
