What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Fiscal Assistant position at Alachua County?
This position requires a passing score on the following two County's skills assessment tests: Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word with a minimum score of moderate knowledge. The assessment tests can be taken in person or online/remotely through the CareerSource North Central Florida. Passing scores must be received by the Human Resources Office via email at achr@alachuacounty.us no later than five business days after the posting closes. CareerSource North Central Florida is not responsible for submitting test scores to the Alachua County Human Resources Office. If assessment(s) were previous taken, please review testing dates as scores are only valid for a period of 2 years from the date of testing.
Pending BOCC Board Approval
An employee assigned to this classification independently processes, maintains and reviews requisitions, spreadsheets, books, ledgers, journals, vendor contracts and fiscal reports and assists with budget preparation and monitors budget expenditures.
Work is directed by a higher level supervisor and reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained.
Exudes a positive customer service focus.
Advocates building organizational culture through aligning decisions with core values including: integrity, honesty, respect, diversity, innovation, accountability and communication.
Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
Writes justifications for overrun or underrun of budget estimates.
Reviews and processes requisitions; maintains detailed tracking records on progression of requisitions through financial systems.
Assists management with budget preparation, including budget projections and end of year budget projection analysis.
May maintain departmental petty cash fund.
Performs the duties listed, as well as those assigned, with professionalism and a sense of urgency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of fiscal procedures as related to County government.
Knowledge of basic personal computer and data entry skills.
Ability to review, analyze and evaluate financial data and recommend solutions.
Ability to work independently on tasks requiring a great deal of accuracy.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate subordinate work assignments.
