Under minimum supervision, the Electronics Technician will operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, modify, test, and install telecommunications systems and associated networking components and cabling. The ideal candidate should have experience with telecommunications technologies for voice, video, and data systems or their industry equivalents assigned to PMRF communications facilities and assets.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Setting up, checking out, operating, monitoring, and maintaining systems and equipment for Range Operations support.
- Responding to evolving operational environments requirements when directed.
- Performing periodic inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published procedures and/or OEM guidelines.
- Documenting results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records.
- Performing troubleshooting and repair of systems/equipment by reading and interpreting electronic/mechanical schematics and using simple and complex tools and test equipment.
- Installing, checking out, and/or bench testing, calibrating, and performing acceptance tests on new and relocated systems and equipment, as directed.
- Performing Communications Security (COMSEC) functions including accounting, loading, and destruction, and courier services for classified cryptographic materials and items.
- Maintaining Telecommunications Inside Cable Plant and Major Battery Back-up Systems.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of four years of progressive experience in a related field with a minimum of two years' experience operating and maintaining telecommunications for voice, video, and data along with related networking systems and equipment.
- Proficiency in using and interpreting the results of test equipment used in telecommunications, video, and networking fields such as O-scopes, RF Power meters, Analyzers, Voltage multi-meters, Bit Error Rate Testers (BERT), Time Domain Reflectometers, Toners/Tracers.
- Basic Electricity & Electronics theory and applications with emphasis in telecommunications and network troubleshooting and repair.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematic diagrams for troubleshooting and repair.
- Familiarity with OSI 7 Layer model.
- Windows-based OS and LINUX platforms.
