Position Summary:
Guides principals and school leadership teams in the effective implementation of a systematic approach to improving education and learning for all children through the School Improvement Plan process. Is responsible for managing large research and evaluation projects; preparing and submitting accountability data and documents to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction; organizing district-wide testing, analyzing testing and other student or school data.
Qualifications:
- Valid NC Principal License
- 3-5 year experience as a certified school staff member (ie. Classroom teacher, Counselor, Social Worker)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of the ABSS Strategic Plan, Mission and Vision in order to lead the alignment of school improvement planning.
- Experience coordinating and developing continuous improvement efforts.
- Knowledge of the School Improvement Planning platform.
- Thorough knowledge of program guidelines and professional standards related to assessment.
- Knowledge of the ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and individuals.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general educational reports, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to write clearly; keep detailed records; effectively produce reports, letters, and memoranda; and to carry out complex tasks.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serves as a support and liaison to schools in the school improvement process and meets with staff to assist in their development.
- Ensures effective implementation of all components of the school improvement plan, district goals, and accreditation processes.
- Monitors and supports progress towards the accomplishment of school improvement goals in partnership with the Executive Directors of Elementary, Middle, and High School.
- Gathers, prepares, and facilitates analysis of specific data needed to monitor the impact of improvement plans on student achievement.
- Monitors NCStar for progress, feedback in partnership with the Executive Directors of Elementary and Secondary Schools, and submission of plans by deadlines.
- Submits accountability data and documents to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction; and prepares and submits required reports for the district.
- Conducts statistical analyses; produces graphs, tables, and narrative summaries of data and statistical analysis results.
- Responds to requests for data and information from schools, departments, and administrators, providing timely and collaborative service; and makes oral and written presentations of data and analyses, as requested.
- Leads the district’s research review process. Convenes the Research Review Committee as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
