Job Summary And Description
Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment and safety requirements. Assists students and faculty with the proper use of equipment, demonstrates procedures, and monitors users in the safe and proper operation of equipment.
- Supervises open studios for lab hours outside of class and on Fridays.
- Knowledge of kiln operation (to include loading, firing, maintenance and repair).
- Creates different clay bodies and reclaims clay for all classes. Makes, reclaims, and maintains studio glazes.
- Maintenance of all art studios, storage spaces, and outdoor sculpture and kiln yard.
- Works with students to ensure safety and proper use of tools and equipment in studios.
- Manages the Palmetto Center for the Arts gallery and assists curators with installation/de-installation. Patch and paint walls between exhibitions.

Minimum Education And Experience
- Associate's degree in related field with at least twelve (12) hours in major field of study or a combination of education, training and experience that equates to the required degree.
- One year of related experience.
- Three or more years of related experience preferred.
- Kiln operation, ceramics and/or sculptural background.
- Proficient with power tools and building.
- Licenses or certifications may be required depending on area of assignment.
