Outside working hours if other than M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Evening and weekend hours are required as needed to support rehearsals and performances.
Job Summary and Description
Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment and safety requirements. Assists students and faculty with the proper use of equipment, demonstrates procedures, and monitors users in the safe and proper operation of equipment.
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the scene shop, including construction, rigging, and safety.
- Works with the technical director and designers to share ideas and methods for constructing scenery. They also work with students on set construction and operation.
- Ensures the builds meet the desired standards in partnership with the technical director.
- Provides assistance to faculty in stage craft and theater technology courses.
- Implements and maintains safety standards in the scene shop, performance spaces, and storage areas.
- Assists in keeping the space organized, including inventory of materials and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in related field with at least twelve (12) hours in major field of study or a combination of education, training and experience that equates to the required degree.
- One year of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Skilled with power tools safety, maintenance, and operation.
- Experience in theater including stagecraft or technical work.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Licenses or certifications may be required depending on area of assignment.
