JOB SUMMARY: Within the Marketing and Strategic Communications Department, the Digital CommunicationsCoordinator is responsible for innovative and effective graphic art design across all online and offline channels as well as monitoring and maintaining the College website.

Reports to Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conceptualizes, designs and delivers exceptional creative assets and campaigns across multiple platforms including print and digital.
  • Serves as the college webmaster and oversees the College’s website and all web domains associated with the institution and its programs.
  • Develops and implements College-wide procedures to ensure web content is curated for marketing purposes and updated regularly.
  • Maintains a contingent of users and empowers them to update and maintain content based on College needs; works with departments, creative unit and programs to implement training and update content that delivers innovative design solutions.
  • Collaborates with the district web designer to research, design and implement technical solutions to enhance user experience including mobile and responsive design.
  • Monitors website usage analytics, creates reports and recommends improvements.
  • Improves appearance and functionality of the website and digital assets as required by the institution’s needs.
  • Optimizes content for the web and social media channels, including tagging, metadata, SEO keyword searches and link sharing.
  • Creates compelling design artwork that translates to all screen sizes and operating systems including web, video, digital billboards and social media.
  • Provides quality print design assets that reflect strong understanding of layout, mechanicals, typography and color theory.
  • Coordinates the printing production process with vendors to ensure accuracy in quality, color and paper stock; may attend press checks.
  • Ensures all design artwork adheres to branding and style guides.
  • Manages workflow and delivers assignments in a timely manner with flexibility to care for special project and time sensitive requests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or combination of related education, training and experience relating to the fields of graphic design, communication, and web and/or project management or related.
  • Advanced level of training or experience in graphic arts and user experience.
  • Must have a minimum of five years of experience in design, web content management systems, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), keyword tracking, data analysis, production, printing techniques and project management in higher education, advertising agency or public/private sector.
  • Experience with information technologies relevant to desktop and mobile design and maintenance including HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3 and JavaScript.
  • Understanding of usability testing, browser compatibility, assistive technology and responsive design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Adobe Creative Suites products and related graphic and digital design software.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High-level working knowledge of pre-press and print production using traditional and new technology, including advanced experience with layout and design, use of photos, art, typography.
  • Experience managing complex website with strong focus on user experience, content strategy and information architecture.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable through the organization’s insurers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Expert knowledge of methods and techniques of graphic design, layout, print production, press checks and web management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, independently, and as a member of a team with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong project management skills handling multiple tasks, setting priorities, and managing time within established deadlines.
  • Ability to independently identify and define design and layout problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and make recommendations and changes.
  • Ability to communicate ideas, concepts, and solutions clearly and concisely with clients, vendors and other designers in person, via phone and email.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May supervise or provide mentorship for interns, part-time employees, or other staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed within routine office environment with no exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions. Physical demands are usually limited to sitting or standing in one location much of the time. Some stooping, lifting or carrying lightweight objects may be required. Periodic travel, evenings and weekends required.

Pay: $59,925.00 - $89,876.00 per year
