Position Overview
Position Title: Early Childhood Director

On the rural Alamo Navajo Reservation, the Alamo Navajo School is seeking a skilled and visionary Early Childhood Director to lead and oversee programs serving children ages 0-5. This position provides overall coordination, administration, and leadership for programs, including Early Head Start, Head Start, FACE, and special needs services. The ideal candidate will have strong program management skills, a commitment to family-centered services, and the ability to foster quality education and development opportunities for children and families in the Alamo Navajo community.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Coordination:
Provide leadership in program development, evaluation, and expansion.
Supervise and coordinate special projects as assigned.
Collaborate with Policy Council, parent groups, and community stakeholders.
- Administrative and Regulatory Compliance:
Prepare and manage budgets for program services.
Complete required reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) for grants and regulatory compliance.
Oversee data collection, analysis, and program documentation.
- Quality and Best Practices:
Ensure quality services that align with the mission of ANSB, Inc.
Maintain current knowledge of national and state trends in early childhood education.
Represent the program positively through networking and communication at local, state, and national levels.
- Staff and Community Engagement:
Participate in hiring and training of early childhood staff.
Foster collaboration among programs and divisions within ANSB, Inc.
Promote family-centered services and build relationships with community partners.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
· Masters degree in Early Childhood, Special Education, or job related field.
· Three or more successful years experience in a similar position.
· Experience in program development and budget management
a) Knowledge of basic grantsmanship.
· Special knowledge, skills or abilities as follows:
a) Knowledge of current theories and best practices in working with children 0-5 and families, including pregnant mothers.
b) Knowledge of basic computer applications software, preferably Microsoft Office, including keyboarding.
c) Effective verbal and written communications skills
d) Exemplary communication skills.
e) Commitment to team approach.
INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preferential consideration for employment will be given to persons of documented Navajo, American Indian or Alaskan Native Tribal Membership who meet the qualifications above, in accordance with the requirements of N.P.E.A. P.L. 93-638 and the Navajo Nation Tribal Code.
