The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Maintenance & Operations is looking for an Equipment Operator Sub-Journey 2 to help us

Keep Alaska Moving!

What You Will Be Doing

As an Equipment Operator, Sub-Journey 2 for Northern Region Maintenance and Operations, you will be completing tasks such as:

  • Perform manual labor such as thawing culverts, patching potholes, cutting brush, and picking up litter.
  • Assist with patching crews, including shoveling, raking, and operating chip spreaders.
  • Operate specialized equipment like sweepers, forklifts, crack sealers, weed whackers, and chainsaws.
  • Repair and replace traffic signs and guardrails.
  • Change heavy equipment blades, tires, and perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Set up and maintain work zones to meet federal safety regulations.
  • Provide direction for flaggers and act as a backup flagger for crew safety.
  • Drive light-duty vehicles to work zones and refuel equipment as necessary.

This position is based in Tok, Alaska, within the Tok District, a region known as the "Gateway to the Interior." Tok offers a remote, yet accessible location, surrounded by beautiful wilderness and outdoor recreation opportunities. Located along the Alaska Highway, Tok serves as a key access point to Alaska’s interior, with a mix of resource industries and tourism.
