What You Will Be Doing
As an Equipment Operator, Sub-Journey 2 for Northern Region Maintenance and Operations, you will be completing tasks such as:
- Perform manual labor such as thawing culverts, patching potholes, cutting brush, and picking up litter.
- Assist with patching crews, including shoveling, raking, and operating chip spreaders.
- Operate specialized equipment like sweepers, forklifts, crack sealers, weed whackers, and chainsaws.
- Repair and replace traffic signs and guardrails.
- Change heavy equipment blades, tires, and perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Set up and maintain work zones to meet federal safety regulations.
- Provide direction for flaggers and act as a backup flagger for crew safety.
- Drive light-duty vehicles to work zones and refuel equipment as necessary.
