What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler position at Alaska Digestive and Liver Disease - ANCHORAGE, AK?
- Schedule outpatient appointments and procedure appointments
- Coordinates procedure schedules with all affiliated facilities
- Obtains insurance authorization as needed
- Accepts and relays messages effectively
- Supports Medical Receptionist for incoming phone calls
- Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements in managed care plans
- Confer with physician during referral process
- Act as Liaison between Gastroenterologist, Physician’s, and alternative care facility
- Connect patients to relevant community resources, with the goal of enhancing patient health and well-being, increasing patient satisfaction, and reducing health care costs
- Provide Medication Reconciliation
- Checks patients out and collects copays, balances and payment plans
- Processes M.D. orders for labs, imaging, and referrals
- Works with M.D.’s on special appointment/procedure scheduling
- Communicates with Ambulatory Surgery Center, Providence and Alaska Regional Hospital to confirm or make changes to procedure schedules’
- Increase continuity of care by managing relationships with Gastroenterologist, primary care providers, transitions-in-care, and referrals
- Facilitates the staff routing of incoming faxes appropriately
- Serve as the contact point, advocate, and informational resource for patients, care team, family/caregiver(s), payers, and community resources
- Facilitate patient access to appropriate medical and specialty providers
- Educate patient and family/caregivers about relevant community resources
- All other job duties as assigned.
