Our Accounting Supervisor will supervises grant accountant and senior accountant staff, and assists the Assistant Controller in managing the grant accounting functions of the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA). This includes planning and executing non-routine finance projects and performing higher level accounting and finance functions. Responsibilities include assisting with preparation of the single audit, assisting with the coordination of financial audits, review of grant financial reports and monitoring the quality of financial information.
We’re looking for someone who has an Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. A minimum of two (2) years of experience processing AP invoices; a minimum of three (3) years of experience supervising other accounting staff; a minimum of five (5) years of relevant working experience in multi-business financial operations that includes accounting principles, integrated accounts payable practice, and effective internal controls. Consideration will also be given to professional experience only and may be substituted for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Navision, DocuSign, and MS Office Suite preferred.

Essential Functions:
- Assists with the coordination of AEA’s annual federal single audits, including preparing detailed supporting documentation for review and issuance by external auditors. Provides audited information for State of Alaska federal single audit reports.
- Prepares complex internal and external financial reports and analysis of financial data, as requested. Prepares financial data and/or analysis to project managers, procurement staff, upper management, federal grantors, grantees, and other outside parties, as requested.
- Reviews financial grant reports and grant agreements for accuracy of the financial information reported. Prepares reconciliations of grant receivables and coordinates with the Assistant Controller to ensure all reconciliations are completed timely.
- Assists the Assistant Controller with the annual update of the AEA Indirect Cost Rate calculations.
- Responsible for creation and maintenance of grant related ERP dimensions.
- Reviews accuracy of daily accounting transactions and activities to include billing and receiving revenues of federal grants or community match, invoice payments, cash transfers, and recording the results of those activities in the general ledger and subsidiary systems.
- Reviews and approves journal entries for accuracy and validity.
- Provides input on the development, design, and implementation of grant accounting policies, procedures, and work processes to ensure transactions are recorded in the accounting system in conformance with applicable accounting standards.
- Reviews grant and grant match budget reports and coordinates with project manager’s for review. Reviews and posts grant budgets as required in coordination with the Budget Analyst.
- Process grant close out steps in coordination with project managers and the Assistant Controller.
- Supervises grant accounting staff and daily operations associated.
- Provides support to Controller and Assistant Controller for various tasks of the Finance section.
- Other duties as assigned.
