As we continue to grow, we have exciting opportunities to grow our team. We are currently looking for a Sheet Metal Assembler/Fabricator to work out of our Palmer location. With Alaska Gear Company, this position can expect to undertake the following duties.

Job Duties:

• The primary function(s) of this position will install and fabricate

aviation sheet metal used in assembling our PSTOL flaps and aluminum struts

• Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, and install both PSTOL flaps and aluminum struts.
• Installation of hardware such as rivet/blind rivet, various hardware
• Measure, mark dimensions and lay out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculator, and squares
• Trims, files, grinds, deburr, buffs, and smooths surfaces.
• Bolts, rivets, screws, clips parts to assemble products
• Manufacture or assist with the manufacture of parts
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with sheet metal preferred
• Preferred experience in modification and installation of parts,

items and assemblies by interpreting technical data such as blue prints or manufacturer drawings or manuals

• Must be highly detail with strong aptitude to read and interpret mechanical drawings
• Must be able to follow direction, work independently, and also work well as part of a team
• Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
• Proficient in using standard shop tooling equipment including

forklifts, hand and power tools and know how to read measuring devices

• Meet the physical requirements of the job; Ability to lift heavy equipment, to bend, and to stand or sit for long periods of time
• Must be punctual, maintain a strong attendance record, have a

strong work ethic, and desire to continually enhance their skill set
