As we continue to grow, we have exciting opportunities to grow our team. We are currently looking for a Sheet Metal Assembler/Fabricator to work out of our Palmer location. With Alaska Gear Company, this position can expect to undertake the following duties.
Job Duties:
- The primary function(s) of this position will install and fabricate
aviation sheet metal used in assembling our PSTOL flaps and aluminum struts
- Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, and install both PSTOL flaps and aluminum struts.
- Installation of hardware such as rivet/blind rivet, various hardware
- Measure, mark dimensions and lay out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculator, and squares
- Trims, files, grinds, deburr, buffs, and smooths surfaces.
- Bolts, rivets, screws, clips parts to assemble products
- Manufacture or assist with the manufacture of parts
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with sheet metal preferred
- Preferred experience in modification and installation of parts,
items and assemblies by interpreting technical data such as blue prints or manufacturer drawings or manuals
- Must be highly detail with strong aptitude to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Must be able to follow direction, work independently, and also work well as part of a team
- Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Proficient in using standard shop tooling equipment including
forklifts, hand and power tools and know how to read measuring devices
- Meet the physical requirements of the job; Ability to lift heavy equipment, to bend, and to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must be punctual, maintain a strong attendance record, have a
strong work ethic, and desire to continually enhance their skill set
