Position Overview
Alaska General Seafoods is looking for a friendly, organized and hardworking individual to join our office team as the Fleet Accountant. As the Fleet accountant, you are the main point of contact for our fleet in administrative manners. Facilitating check in processes, making sure fishers are registered in the appropriate district (otherwise known as dropping cards), and processing preliminary season end settlements are all primary responsibilities.
You will report to the Naknek Office Manager who will build the Fleet Accountant day-to-day schedule.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain fisher/tender accounts and files
- Maintain fisher/tender settlement sheet and prepare July settlements for check issue
- Learn fish ticket program, tender training etc.
- Audit fish tickets, weight records, tender tallies
- Maintain CMII fish ticket posting/reporting trouble shooting Fish Ticket Clerk
- Ensure fish tickets are submitted as required by ADF&G
- Backup support for fisher sign in/out when front counter is busy
- Work closely with fleet personnel, plant personnel, and fishers to ensure accuracy od accounting and fish tickets
- Cover radios (tender comms.) during the day
- Coordinate with QC tender techs
- Reconcile and prepare final fisher settlements prior to Naknek departure
- Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned by Office Manager.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, you will be primarily working in an office environment. You will need to follow safety protocol and wear appropriate PPE while in production areas.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to stand; walk; sit at a computer for intermittent periods of time. It is required that you be able to see, talk and hear. Fleet Accountants must be capable of working long and variable work shifts for extended periods of time. Shifts typically range from 12-14 hours with periodic breaks based on work demands and plant production.
Mental Abilities:
While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to use communication, time management, teamwork and interpersonal skills. You will occasionally perform basic math and read, speak, write and need to understand English.
