What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Engineer II- DEHE Engineering position at Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC)?
The Division of Environment Health and Engineering (DEHE) is charged with design, construction and operations assistance of critical infrastructure throughout Alaska’s rural native communities. As a Civil Engineer II you will design water treatment and storage facilities, water distribution systems, wastewater collection and treatment systems in some of the most challenging environments in the world. Participation in every aspect of the project from concept to design, construction and commissioning projects provides opportunity for professional growth that is rare in the engineering industry today.
Summary
Under limited supervision, provides complex design services and coordination of sanitation and health facilities projects for the Division of Environmental Health and Engineering (DEHE).
Responsibilities
Provides minor design and inspection services for the construction of sanitation and health facilities p rojects in rural communities. Prepares construction drawings and documents.
W orks with managers to develop project scopes; collaborates with specialists and other engineers as a team member in construction document production. Investigates sites, analyzes samples and participates in surveying work.
R eviews designs and specifications submitted by vendors and contractors and makes recommendations to project managers. Completes necessary calculations as directed. Designs project components under supervision of the Senior Engineer.
A ids in creation of project plan sets and design sheets. Provides technical support to field staff to facilitate construction. Provides computer aided design for civil engineering projects.
P rovides technical assistance and engineering evaluations for health and sanitation facilities. Identifies, researches and suggests resolution processes for emergent problems.
R esearches technical specifications for material and equipment purchases. Writes engineering memoranda and status reports.

KNOWLEDGE And SKILLS
A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or relatedfield from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited university or college program, or the ability to obtain the degree within twelve (12) months of accepting the position.
Minimum Experience Qualification
Non-supervisory - Two (2) years of civil or environmental engineering experience. A Master’s Degree may be substituted for one year of experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

- Knowledge of applicable environmental health statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, codes administrative orders and other operational guidelines and directives.

- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Land Desktop.
- Skill in analyzing environmental health issues and preparing recommendations based on findings.
