Senior Business Analyst

The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation (APFC) is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to lead the implementation of our data warehouse project to enhance our data management and business intelligence capabilities. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this position will lead the project and integrated technologies to strengthen APFC’s data infrastructure.
Beyond the initial implementation, the Business Analyst will play a key role in ongoing data governance, workflow enhancements, and optimization of reporting solutions to support investment and operational decision-making. This position will serve as the critical bridge between business units, technical teams, and external vendors, ensuring successful deployment of the data warehouse, effective data utilization, and long-term system efficiency.

The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation is an instrumentality of the State of Alaska created for the purpose of tracking, investing and reporting results of the Alaska Permanent Fund (APF). APFC invests the APF in eight asset classes that represent a combination of public and private markets. An annual percent of market value transfer from the APF supplies greater than 50% of Alaska’s unrestricted general fund revenue.

Principal Responsibilities
Lead Data Warehouse Implementation
Oversee the implementation, and optimization of the APFC data warehouse to improve data management, reporting, and investment operations. Ensure the integration of the data warehouse with existing systems to support data-driven decision-making.
Business Analysis & Process Improvement
Gather, document, and analyze business and technical requirements to align with APFC’s operational and investment goals. Identify opportunities for process improvement and workflow automation using data and technology solutions.
Ensure data governance and compliance standards are met.
Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration
Act as the liaison between business teams, IT, and external vendors, ensuring smooth communication and alignment on project goals. Facilitate discussions with investment professionals, operations teams, and technical experts to translate business needs into technical solutions. Provide training and support for end-users to maximize the value of the data warehouse and reporting tools.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Develop and validate stakeholders’ key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and data visualization tools to enhance investment insights. Ensure accuracy and usability of reporting structures and business intelligence tools.
Monitor data integrity and recommend improvements to ensure reliability.
Project Management & Risk Mitigation
Track project scope, timelines, and deliverables to ensure the successful rollout of data solutions.
Identify and address risks, dependencies, and challenges that could impact project success.
Coordinate efforts with internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure alignment and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
BA in Finance, Accounting, Computer Sciences, Business Management or related field
3-5 years of experience in financial modeling, data management, business analysis, or a *related role
Experience in investment management, financial services, or a similar industry
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would enhance a candidate’s ability to succeed in this role. Applicants who meet the required qualifications but do not have all the preferred qualifications are still encouraged to apply.
- Experience implementing or managing a data warehouse, business intelligence, or analytics project, particularly in the investment or financial sector.
- Familiarity with BNY Data Vault or similar data management platforms.
- Familiarity with BlackRock Aladdin, Nexen or similar investment analytics platforms.
- Proficiency in business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting platforms.
- Knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and ETL processes to support data integration and reporting.
- Project management experience, particularly with cross-functional teams, external vendors, or enterprise technology implementations.
- Certification in Agile, Scrum, or Project Management (PMP, CBAP, PMI-ACP).
