What are the responsibilities and job description for the Remote Alaskan Fishing Lodge Mechanic position at Alaska Rainbow Lodge?
Alaska Rainbow Lodge is in search of a professional full time mechanic for the 2025 fishing season in remote SW Alaska.
Meals, lodging and accommodations are provided for the entire summer!
Applicants should have a wide range of mechanical skills in order to be able to assist with all aspects of running a remote community completely detached from any utilities.
Skills should include:
-A thorough understanding of how gasoline and diesel powered engines work and the ability to diagnose and fix any problem that may arise.
-A basic to moderate understating of wiring, electrical and plumbing.
-A thorough understanding of the use of all power and hand tools, and basic understanding of refrigeration.
Someone who is mechanically minded and can track down problems and learn how to fix anything that comes up using on hand manuals or online resources is perfect for this position.
During the season the lodge mechanic will be required to work on and maintain, outboard motors on all of the lodges boats, ATVs and side by sides, a V8 inboard powered jet boat, the lodge trucks and vans, yard maintenance equipment, plumbing, electrical, washers and dryers, the lodge's walk-in freezer and chiller, Case backhoe, assist with basic aircraft maintenance, etc.
