Alaskan Brewing Company is searching for a Maintenance Technician to join the Brew Crew!
Position: Maintenance Technician
Special Requirement: Must be 21
Salary: Salary based on experience. Overtime Eligible.
Hours: Full-time, 40 hrs/wk. Rotating shift work, and after hour rotating on-call duties are required. Overtime is not frequent but will be required as needed for projects or repairs. Work schedules are determined by the Plant Director. Days off are consecutive, but may not be Monday-Friday and will change based on production needs

The Position:
The Maintenance Technician performs standard and high-level preventative maintenance and repair tasks throughout Alaskan Brewing’s production areas.
General Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Hands on repair and maintenance of all plant, brewing and packaging machinery, vehicle fleet and facilities.
- Boiler maintenance
- Follow preventative maintenance program and schedules
- Accurately observe equipment operation to prevent/diagnose potential problems and to improve efficiencies and reduce waste.
- May assist with planning and layout of work relating to repairs.
- Maintain accurate computerized maintenance logs.
- Assist in other areas of plant operations as required or assigned to meet production needs.
- Understand sanitation measures based on food quality standards and apply them when working on appropriate equipment or in food handling areas of the facility
- Follow proper safety procedures when working with equipment, facility boilers, and pressure vessels.
- Rotating after-hours and on-call coverage
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects, such as parts, motors, hoses, etc.
- Ability to drive a forklift and handle heavy objects safely.
- Ability to work in all types of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions at any time of the year, these areas could be very cold, very hot, very dusty, and/or humid areas.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to safely work with pressurized pumps and valves.
- Able to climb ladders, must be able to comfortably work on catwalks on our 30-60 foot tall silos and tanks in all weather conditions at any time of day.
- Ability to work with hazardous materials in a safe manner (acids, bases, sanitizing agents).
- Ability to occasionally maneuver pallets of beer weighing 2,100 lb using a pallet jack or forklift.
- Ability to occasionally assist with stacking 40 lb cases of beer and maneuvering kegs weighing up to 165 lbs.
Skills and Knowledge Needed:
- Moderately skilled in several areas which may include plumbing, mechanical, electrical systems, HVAC, and welding.
- Strong mechanical repair background and skills involving gearboxes and electrical motors.
- Computer knowledge required, experience with MS Excel and MS Word.
- Ability to maintain both manual & computerized paperwork & data entry logs.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment in an expedient manner to lessen down time.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal direct supervision in a dynamic working environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and follow Alaskan Brewing safety policies that pertain to maintenance functions such as Lock out/Tag out, Confined Space, Boiler technician training programs, etc
- Ability to maintain a positive work attitude and develop strong relationships with co-workers.
