Position Summary
The Department of Pharmacy Practice at ACPHS invites applications from qualified candidates to join the College at the Instructor rank for a non-tenure track appointment. Applicants with experience in institutional pharmacy and sterile compounding are welcome to apply. Candidates must also demonstrate strong practice and interpersonal skills, an ability to work independently yet contribute to a team, good organizational skills, and a commitment to teaching. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing PharmD students to provide exceptional pharmaceutical care through skills-based education.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
The faculty member will oversee and deliver content for the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum with specific responsibilities to the pharmacy skills course sequence designed to develop critical thinking, communication, ethical responsibility, and hands-on technical skills required for pharmacy practice. The faculty member will be facilitating laboratory sessions, discussions, and demonstrations with a focus on practical application in institutional and community pharmacy settings. The faculty member will engage students in active learning environments that foster inter-professional collaboration and patient-centered care. In addition, the faculty member will participate in the mission of the College and provide appropriate service to the School of Pharmacy and the pharmacy profession.
Additional Responsibilities Include
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The duties and responsibilities of this role require the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or interaction with our community, requiring all work to be performed full-time on-site. Standard work hours are from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM EST, Monday through Friday. Additional details pertaining to this position will be discussed during the interview process.

Additional Responsibilities Include
- Develop and deliver high-level, engaging didactic lessons within assigned courses
- Coordinate and manage the deployment of required and elective courses as assigned
- Perform teaching and course coordination responsibilities as assigned
- Participate in monthly Pharmacy Practice department meetings and other committees as assigned
- Advise pharmacy students as assigned
- Precept APPE students as assigned
- Participate in and help facilitate Doctor of Pharmacy admissions events on a periodic basis (e.g. Open House, Accepted Students’ Day)
- Knowledge of teaching and learning pedagogy and student success initiatives.
- Knowledge of academic programming related to pharmacy education.
- Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to communicate and present information effectively to internal and external audiences.
- Ability to multi-task, develop and present workshops or training, and to advise and guide students specific to pharmacy learning opportunities.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and work ethic.
- Observes schedules and meets assignment deadlines.
- Demonstrates willingness to learn/enhance skills needed to perform responsibilities.
- Pharmacy Degree from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program
- Licensed or eligibility to be licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of New York.
- Experience in institutional pharmacy practice
- Be a U.S. citizen or carry a permanent resident VISA
