ABOUT ALBANY COUNTRY CLUB
Founded in 1890, Albany Country Club (ACC) is one of the country's oldest continuously operated golf clubs. ACC has undergone many renovations over the years and now boasts spectacular views from its beautiful clubhouse with Grille Room and Patio for member dining and private banquet rooms able to accommodate events from 10-300 guests. The 7,100-yard golf course was designed in the early 1960s by Robert Trent Jones and is one of the finest in the northeast. A practice facility with a driving range and putting green helps members advance their golf game. Additional amenities include three outdoor lighted Har-Tru tennis courts, two asphalt courts, lighted platform tennis courts, and two swimming pools.

· Details on the tennis program:
- 25-30 adults, 20-25 Children
- one full-time tennis pro and four part-time staff members
- 500 sq ft tennis building with men’s and women’s restrooms
Weekly Adult programming to include:
- Cardio Tennis
- Ladies and men’s nights
- Beginner and intermediate clinics
- Doubles and mixed play
- Weekly Junior programming to include
- Toddler Tennis
- Beginner, intermediate, and advanced clinics
JOB OVERVIEW:
· Responsible for maintaining all tennis facilities, programs, and operations
· Hire, supervise, and train all tennis staff
· Develop, monitor, and control the budget for the department
· Maintain the highest professional conduct and service standards
· Seasonal position, full-time from mid-May to mid-September (approx. 22 weeks)
Qualifications & Work Requirements:
· Member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or equivalent professional membership preferred but not required
· Verifiable teaching credentials
· Proven ability to hire, train, and supervise tennis staff
· Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to communicate policies, procedures, and objectives effectively to both staff and members/guests
· Ability to receive, follow, and give detailed instructions
· Ability to bend, stretch, reach, and perform physical activities, including playing tennis
· Extensive knowledge of court surfaces and proper maintenance techniques
· High standards of integrity and reliability
· Successful background check
Responsibilities & Duties:
· Plan, promote and direct all tennis activities and instructional programs
· Play tennis with members of all skill levels to generate enthusiasm
· Design and conduct tennis clinics and private lessons
· Design and conduct junior tennis clinics and training programs
· Proper recordkeeping for member charges for all tennis-related activities
· Organize, administer, and officiate at tournaments, exhibitions, and club social events
· Administer and enforce club policies and procedures regarding play on club courts
· Select, train, supervise, and evaluate the tennis staff professionals and other tennis staff; schedule staff hours to ensure members are fully served and labor costs are maintained
· Plan professional development and training activities for subordinates
· Prepare annual and monthly budgets for tennis operations; take corrective action as necessary to help ensure budget goals are attained
· Maintain records relating to player and guest play and other statistics; maintain strict controls on sign-in to ensure established club policies are being met
· Provide tennis-related news for the club newsletter, publications, and weekly email blasts
· Ensure that all club members and guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional attention
· Market tennis facilities to members and guests
· Develop a detailed annual calendar of tennis activities
· Assist in the development of short and long-range plans for improvements to the tennis programs
· Maintain a close working relationship with other club professionals
· Attend all staff and management meetings and Family Committee meetings
· Coordinate with the Director of Catering to provide food and beverage services for tennis events when required
· Ensure that tennis staff consistently comply with the club’s employee manual and with all applicable federal and state employment laws
Compensation:
· A competitive seasonal salary commensurate with experience, plus commissions on lessons and clinics
