What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Assistant position at Albany County Fairgrounds?
Albany County Fairgrounds is seeking to hire a Grounds Assistant. This position will serve as a general custodian and laborer at the fairgrounds. This position will serve as an assistant to the Grounds Manager. All assigned duties need to be performed in a timely and professional manner. This is a part time hourly position with no benefits offered. Please note: some after-hour and on-call hours are required. Some weekend hours may be required for events. Pay Range: DOE. Open Until Filled.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Must pass a background check due to the close proximity to minors in youth programs;
- Must pass drug test;
- Must be able to maintain a valid driver license.
- Must be able to lift 60lbs consistently.
Desired Qualifications
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team and assist with employee leadership;
- Willingness to perform custodial work and manual labor, requiring moderate strength;
- Skills in the proper use of power and hand tools; General knowledge of and skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and welding, and equipment operation.
- Working knowledge of proper safety procedures and work habits;
- Previous experience with events, event planning or county fairs/expos.
Responsibilities Including but not limited to:
- Monitor and report all building condition information to the Grounds Manager on a regular basis;
- Assist in overseeing facility usage and contract work as assigned by Grounds Manager.
- Ability to fix or repair electrical outlets, fixtures, windows, screens, sidewalks, concrete, doors, install signage, roofs, ceilings, gutters, vents, toilets, sinks, fences, stalls, pens, and/or chutes. chutes, pens, stalls, etc.
- Some daily tasks may include Sweeping, Mopping, Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms & buildings and barns;
- Provide snow or debris removal when needed with shovels or equipment;
- Provide labor for the movement of equipment for individual and event set ups. (bleachers, cages, panels, display cases, tables and chairs, etc.);
- Complete landscaping tasks as needed;
- Equipment operation & maintenance as needed or instructed;
- Maintain barn or arena conditions for indoor and outdoor arenas;
- Be prepared to work in different weather conditions and a variety of hours as needed;
- Follow Fairgrounds policies;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Individual must be available for the annual county fair and Laramie Jubilee Days.
