The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a skilled nursing professional who provides high-quality patient care in the Pediatrics Gastroenterology department. With a strong foundation in pediatric gastroenterology, the NP assesses and manages patients with complex health needs, ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, and therapeutic interventions as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including collecting vital signs, specimens, and preparing patients for tests, therapy, or treatments.
- Order and interpret medical laboratory test results, diagnose medical conditions, administer medications or treatments, and perform minor surgery as required.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to provide evidence-based care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical reports, complete accurate patient coding for effective billing, and manage inventory of medical supplies and instruments.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to new staff and/or physician assistant students, ensuring smooth patient processing, treatment, and discharge.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in computerized medical recordkeeping and billing systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must be HIPAA compliant at all times.
- Nurse Practitioner licensure, ATLS, and BCLS certifications are required upon hire.
