Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Pediatrics Gastroenterology
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) plays a vital role in the care of patients with specialized health needs. Working in collaboration with the attending physician, primary nurse, and other healthcare providers, the NP provides family-centered care to patients in the pediatric gastroenterology department.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments, complete physical examinations, and collect clinical data, including vital signs and medical laboratory test results.
- Diagnose medical conditions, administer medications or treatments, and perform minor surgery as necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient medical reports, inventory medical supplies, and ensure effective billing through accurate patient coding.
- Serve as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts, ensuring the smooth flow of patient processing, treatment, and discharge.
- Mentor new staff and/or physician assistant students in their roles.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Able to quickly master all aspects of computerized medical recordkeeping and billing systems.
- Must project a professional image and earn the confidence of others.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
- HIPAA compliance at all times.
