Job Description:
The Assistant Nurse Manager provides leadership and coordination of daily operations, patient care services, and staff management in the Elective Orthopedics unit at Albany Medical Center. Key responsibilities include mentoring professional caregivers, facilitating patient access and communication, and ensuring competent compassionate patient care is provided.
In collaboration with the Administrative Nursing Supervisor, Nurse Manager, and Assistant Vice President of Specialty Nursing Division, the Assistant Nurse Manager supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and services consistent with the hospital's mission and departmental/unit vision and philosophy. This includes providing direction and support to unit-based staff and collaborating with other service and department leaders towards attainment of short- and long-term goals and objectives.
The successful candidate will be a visible leader who provides guidance and oversight to direct patient care provided by specialty nursing unit staff on the assigned primary shift of work. S/he will assure that high-quality patient care is uniformly provided to customers, including referring facilities, hospital staff, and patients in the inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.
The Assistant Nurse Manager will also participate in budget planning and resource allocation, as well as develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and quality patient outcomes. Additionally, s/he will support the development of unit-based staff and collaborate with other departments to achieve organizational goals.
