Positions Responsibilities:
This position is housed within the Clinical Department of ARHS. The purpose of this position is to provide clerical support in Currituck County and assistance to a wide variety of programs and counties across the district, while focusing primarily on front desk duties. While this position is based in Currituck County, the employee will assist with clerical coverage across the eight-county district.
Key Duties:
· Ensure the continuity of clinic flow with accurate data entry and record preparation. Data and records include but are not limited to, registration, financial intake, consent, signatures, and release of information forms. By creating appropriate records and necessary forms, the nursing staff will have the tools necessary to provide quality health care.
· Participate in the scanning and/or disposition of all records, practicing knowledge of laws and regulations regarding client and medical records, utilizing the Records Retention and Disposition Schedule.
· Provide clerical support for all programs and services including, but not limited to all clinical services, WIC, and environmental health.
· Utilize through knowledge of office practices and procedures.
· Practice excellent internal and external customer service
· Learn, interpret, and explain the policies, regulations, and programs
· Communicate effectively and professionally in person, by telephone, and via email.
· Understand and efficiently navigate district scheduling system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· General knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices.
· General knowledge of and ability to use correct spelling, punctuation and specialized vocabulary; ability to proofread.
· General knowledge of office accounting and record keeping procedures, mathematics and their application in the work environment.
· Ability to learn and apply a variety of guidelines.
· Ability to use a variety of office equipment.
· Ability to work with people with courtesy and tact.
· Ability to screen communications based on predetermined guidelines to independently respond or route inquiries.
· Ability to record and compile information based on general guidelines.
· Ability to gather and give information and instructions regarding the work process or procedures.
· Ability to balance and reconcile figures.
· May require ability to coordinate work of other support staff, student workers or volunteers.
· Ability to learn to use specialized office equipment.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least one year of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
