We are open to candidates at either the Senior Manager or Manager level for the Market Risk Modeling team. These individuals are self-starting, intellectually curious, and results-focused. Most importantly, they have a strong passion for quantitative investment risk management and are committed to making a real difference.
As a part of the Market Risk Modelling team, you will play the lead role on ensuring the reliability, validity, and usefulness of the market risk models. You will also be responsible for verifying that the factor simulations are representative of the risk profile at each security, pool and asset class levels for aggregation measures of P&Ls, such as VAR and Active VAR. You will take a lead role in developing methodologies and documenting the results for model approval. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to identify efficiencies and increase the accuracy of market risk models to continue to enhance the value-add of the Risk Modelling team.
Responsibilities Include:
- Working as the subject matter expert and owner of market risk model methodologies, updating and negotiating approval for and maintaining the risk methodologies
- Reviewing ongoing model performance, assessing overall model health within a given framework, identifying potential problems and working with stakeholders to resolve
- Liaising with risk system vendor (i.e. BlackRock) to develop or enhance capabilities within the risk solution
- Validating various risk measures at multiple levels across all AIMCo portfolios
- Development and documentation of risk model methodologies for committee approval and maintenance of the risk methodologies
- Supporting the engagement of internal and external stake holders by preparing reference material and research analysis
- Acting as a subject matter expert and developing risk staff members and investment management professionals in investment management teams
- Contributing to the adoption of a culture of risk awareness and transparency
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Finance, Economics, Financial Mathematics)
- Professional designation such as CFA or FRM would be advantageous
- Ability to program in various languages such as Excel VBA, Python and SQL
- Familiarity with applications including Excel (VBA), SQL, etc. Familiarity with Aladdin would be advantageous.
- Experience in financial services with relevant exposure to risk measurement experience in market, credit, and liquidity risk
- Able to influence senior management and peers, is comfortable speaking up and providing counterbalance, while simultaneously maintaining collaborative relationships.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
