What you will be doing
The Data Science team at Albertsons Companies is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to work for the most transformational food and drug retailers in the United States.
The position will be based preferably in Pleasanton, CA, also considering Dallas TX.
As a Principal Data Scientist, you will lead our data science initiatives and play a critical role in shaping our data science models, including ML and AI models, for our Product Foundational data science capabilities used to deliver key outcomes for Assortment and Space Planning, Pricing, Personalization, and Transportation efforts that are leading to business growth, customer growth and services for Albertson's partners. You will leverage your deep expertise in machine learning, as well as statistical and mathematical modeling to drive impactful business decisions and innovations at enormous scale.
You will be a key technical leader responsible for designing and implementing the data science architecture that underpins our AI and ML modeling Product Foundational capabilities and integration with applications and data pipelines. This role demands a visionary thinker with deep technical expertise and a strategic mindset, who can drive the evolution of our data science infrastructure and methodologies.

The salary range is $182,400.00 to $247,000.00) annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (8-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (such as 401(k) eligibility). What we are searching for
- Advanced degree in a STEM field like CS, DS, Engineering, Statistics, Math, etc. is preferred, or equivalent experience from building large scale solutions.
- 10 years of experience in data science, with experience in architecting and deploying data science solutions at scale.
- Proven track record of leading data science projects and teams.
- Extensive experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R).
- Strong background in statistical modeling, deep learning, data mining, and predictive analytics.
- Strong background in data engineering and big data.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Proficiency in understanding interaction of multiple data science/ML models.
- Must know how to go from point solutions to platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

- Experience in retail industry.
