Position Title: Graduate Assistant, Athletic Communications

Job Overview: The Graduate Assistant will serve as primary media contact for assigned sports, as well as assisting with various aspects of all Albertus Magnus home athletic events. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: writing and editing of press releases, serving as statistician for various home athletic events, updating and maintaining the Albertus Magnus Athletics website, www.albertusfalcons.com, maintaining social media platforms for all sports, serving as website coordinator, and creating promotional materials. Additional responsibilities will include video/photo content for the website.
Essential Functions:
- Serves as a primary media contact for designated athletic teams.
- Updating and maintaining the official Albertus Magnus College athletics website, www.albertusfalcons.com.
- Responds to statistical and reporting requirements from the NCAA, GNAC and intercollegiate opponents.
- Creates game-day publications and writes event recaps.
- Devises social media strategy for designated sports.
- Serves as game-day statistician and maintains statistical databases.
- Assists in all phases of communication: digital, graphic design, internal and external.
- Assists in organizing the setup and coverage of all home athletic events.
- Assists in supervising game-day student workers and all game-day staff.
- Assists with coordination of all communication functions of the College’s intercollegiate sports programs.
- Operates within the mission of the College and athletics department to ensure a full NCAA DIII student-athlete experience.
- Follows all institutional, GNAC and NCAA regulations regarding designated responsibilities and athletics in general.
- All other duties as assigned by the SID, Director of Athletics and/or athletic administrative staff.
Qualifications:
- Experience with in-game statistical software or a similar program (PrestoSports/Genius).
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products – specifically InDesign and Photoshop.
- Experience producing videos using iMovie or Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Level of experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
- Experience in writing using AP style.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Relevant work experience may be substituted to meet qualifications for the position.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Acceptance to the Albertus Magnus College full-time graduate program of one of the following programs:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Master of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership (MSMOL)
- Master of Science in Criminal Justice
- Master of Accounting
- Master of Healthcare Administration
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy regarding the student-athlete experience.
Work Schedule Requirements:
- Special Work Schedule Requirements: This position includes weekend and evening hours.
- Graduate Assistants are expected to fulfill a commitment to the Athletic Department in line with the department commitment to educational benefits as outlined in the Graduate Assistant Contract and handbook.
- A Graduate Assistant is expected to meet the expectations regarding time and performance as established by the supervisor and the department.
