Position Title: Student Account Coordinator

Position Summary:
Provide quality customer service by performing various student account functions that include assisting in the student billing of all education programs and collections, payment plans, and payment options for students and families. Collaborate with the Financial Aid Office and other departments of the College to ensure all functions are performed in compliance with College, Federal and State policies.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The position requires a hands-on supervisor with excellent customer service skills. In addition to the duties below, the Student Account Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of new initiatives to enhance operations.
- Oversee billing system configuration and maintenance.
- Oversee the billing, collection, and account research for each semester and MOD in accordance with College policies.
- Supervise the processes for direct payments, set up of third-party payment plans and payments, loan payments, federal, state, and local scholarships, deposits, and financial aid disbursements.
- Maintain third-party collection process.
- Investigate non-payment of accounts and recommend placement with a collection agency. Work with collections agency to ensure accurate and timely communications
- Coordinate residential, food service and other billing needs with Office of Residential Life.
- Maintain best practices for efficient and customer-friendly billing and payment processes.
- Research and apply technology resources to improve billing and payment systems.
- Supervise Senior Student Account Representative.
- Oversee student refund requests.
- Supervise customer service functions of the Office, including general Office procedures for processing and safeguarding miscellaneous cash receipts, posting to the general ledger, and customer service.
- Work with outside vendor to prepare and distribute 1098T tax forms and assist with submitting data to the IRS.
- Participate, including presenting at prospective and new student events.
- Implement, maintain, and update financial department systems.
- Develop and maintain business continuity plans for Office and student-related matters.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience in accounting and receivables in a higher education environment.
- Understanding of federal and state collection policies. Ability to multi-task, work under stress, and understand the complexities of federal and state regulations as they relate to financial aid disbursements.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of spreadsheets, and database applications, e.g., MS Word, Excel, and Google Docs, and experience with Ellucian Colleague.
- Strong interpersonal skills; team player with a positive attitude.
- Proficient in communicating with a diverse student body as well as parents, administration, faculty, and staff.
- Integrity, punctuality, dependability, reliability, flexibility.
Education:
Bachelors Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field required or a Bachelors Degree with demonstrated, directly related work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional experience in student billing or accounting-related areas in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity
- Experience with federal Perkins Loan Funds
Working Conditions:
- Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends at the start of the semester and for periodic information sessions with prospective students and their families.

Full-time employees are eligible to receive medical, dental, and vision benefits. Full-time employees can earn between 18-23 paid time off a year.
