Primary Purpose:
To provide content development, coaching and instructional leadership for teachers/associate teachers and collaborate with Campus and District Instructional Leadership Teams.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university, Master’s degree preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements/training for subject/level
- Current ESL Certification: ESL Certification required within (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in the 2010-2011 school year
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Meets district minimum requirements for content area staff development (or will meet within a specified timeframe).
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- TTESS – Proficient (or above) in all Domains
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction & subject matter in assigned position
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to problem solve collaboratively with various groups
Experience:
Three (3) years classroom teaching experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide content development, coaching and instructional leadership for teachers/associate teachers.
- Serve as a coach to new teachers/associate teachers in all aspects of classroom instruction.
- Assist in the alignment and implementation of the academic program at the campus level.
- Facilitate the selection, purchase, and use of supplemental materials and resources in collaboration with the District Coordinator.
- Collaborate with Campus & District Instructional Leadership Teams.
- Serve as a liaison for campus personnel by attending and participating in district level meetings and communicating information/knowledge.
- Support and communicate the vision of Alief ISD.
- Abide by the Alief ISD Code of Civility.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance rate – 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies).
Instructional Strategies
- Coach classroom teachers/associate teachers in effective design and delivery of instructional strategies including corresponding management decisions.
- Provide guidance to teachers/associate teachers in implementing district curriculum.
- Assist teachers/associate teachers in developing unit and lesson plans that align with the state and district curriculum and are differentiated to meet the needs of the students.
- Work with teachers/associate teachers and other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Assist and provide guidance for the development of appropriate intervention strategies for students at risk of academic failure.
- Provide guidance for the development of appropriate strategies for differentiation.
Student Growth and Development
- Manage schedule to maximize time for teacher/associate teacher coaching and learning. An average of 60% of their time should be spent in classrooms.
- Assist the teachers/associate teachers in disaggregating data, analyzing data, and determining next steps.
- Is a positive role model for students; supports the mission of the school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Assist teachers/associate teachers with creating an inviting, risk free, supportive, and warm learning environment in their classrooms that is appropriate to the developmental level and interests of students.
- Assist teachers/associate teachers in how to manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Assist in the selection of teachers/associate teachers and in determining teacher assignments.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Professional Growth and Development:
- Actively seeks and participates in content-related professional growth opportunities.
- Keep teachers/associate teachers informed of current staff development opportunities; coordinates and presents professional development based on campus needs.
- Keep up to date with current trends and program ideas for content area and technology.
- Comply with state, district, and federal laws; district and campus regulations and policies for instructional specialists as they exist or may hereafter be amended.
- Attend and participates in faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).
Evaluation:
- Performance in this role is evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Specialists and will be completed by the Principal.

2025-2026 Salary Schedule
Minimum teacher salary is $64,100
2025-2026 Teacher Salary Schedule
Salary is based on 187 days. If working less than 187 days, the salary will be less.
Certified teacher sign-on bonus:
Certified Teacher - Any field - $4,000
Special Education Teacher (Self-Contained Assignment) - $5,000
Bilingual Certified Teacher - $5,000
Certified Teacher with existing TIA Designation - $8,000
Bonus payment delivered in two (2) installments-50% (9/30/25), 50% (9/30/26)
Sign-on Bonus eligibility ends July 17, 2025
