Summary

The Albuquerque Academy Custodial Department is seeking an individual for the position of Supervisor. This position is responsible for performing responsible supervisory work involving the assignment and direct supervision of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings on campus. Essential Functions

• Help in the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training of members of the custodial staff.
• Plan and oversee all custodial work, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
• Maintain an inventory and recommend selection of suitable custodial supplies.
• Inspect the performance of the custodial staff on a regular basis.
• Get along well with others and deal effectively with principals, teachers, students, and visitors.
• Lock and unlock doors.
• Sweep and wet/dry mop floors.
• Wax floors and operate buffing machines.
• Vacuum and care for carpeting.
• Wash windows and polish furniture.
• Clean restrooms.
• Raise and lower flags.
• Submit work orders to the Physical Plant Department.
• Support the School and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
• Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy. 
• Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.

Other Responsibilities

• Communicate with custodial staff.
• Report shortages.
• Observe and report the need for complicated repairs.
• Be assigned to other buildings to fill in for vacation or sick time.
• Attend employee meetings as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience

• Minimum three years of experience in a supervisory role is required.
• Bilingualism in English and Spanish is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to attend continuing education in custodial and customer service skills as provided by the school.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Ability to learn and effectively use new applications and web systems. 
• Knowledge of equipment, tools and procedures used in custodial work.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow specific instructions and safety procedures in English.

Special Requirements

• A valid Driver’s License is required. 
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Working Environment

• Majority of work is performed in an indoor setting on campus.
• Shifts are in the evenings starting at 3:00 pm. Monday through Friday. Work hours may vary during school breaks and weekend shifts are required for events.
• Periodic overtime is required.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds with or without assistance
• Ability to walk approximately two miles per day
• Frequent carrying, climbing, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and stooping
• Prolonged standing and walking 
• Regular driving
