Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Handler manages the flow of goods in and out of a Alcon, ensuring accurate records, preparing shipments, and receiving and storing incoming materials.
Responsibilities:
- Unloading trucks and verifying the contents of incoming shipments against packing lists and purchase orders.
- Inspecting goods for damage or discrepancies and documenting any issues.
- Storing received materials in designated areas, ensuring proper inventory management.
- Preparing orders for shipment, including packing, labeling, and weighing packages.
- Ensuring accurate shipping labels and documentation, such as bills of lading.
- Coordinating with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, including tracking stock movements and identifying potential shortages.
- Participating in inventory counts and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
- Recommending replenishment orders as needed.
- Assisting with loading and unloading trucks.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Communicating with other departments and vendors regarding shipping and receiving issues.
- May be responsible for processing returns and exchanges.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Capability of using a computer and working in Office 365 applications.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Ability to read a ship list and BOL.
- Shipping and receiving and or warehouse experience required.
- Must be willing and flexible to work OT.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hearing protection, steel toe metatarsal shoes/boots, & safety glasses must be worn while on the production floor and performing this role.
