Activity Director
Aldersbridge Communities is looking for an energetic full-time Activity Director to join our team at St. Germain Assisted Living facility in Woonsocket, RI.
The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that an on-going program of activities is designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information.
- Ensure that all charted activities progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided.
- Arrange transportation for field trips when necessary.
- Maintain a reference library of written material, laws, etc. necessary for complying with current standards and regulations, and that will provide assistance in maintaining a quality activity program.
- Plan, develop, organize, evaluate and direct the activity program of the facility.
- Coordinate activities with other departments when necessary.
- Encourage the residents/family to participate in the development and review of the residents care plan.
- Assist in making appointments for the residents as requested.
- Supervise activities as necessary.
- Make routine visits to residents and perform assistance with crafts, projects etc.
- Long term care and home & community care experience
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff
- Event planning expertise for organizing engaging activities
- Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home settings
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care, and dementia care best practices
- Ability to create and implement care plans tailored to individual needs
- Familiarity with recreational therapy techniques
- Understanding of aging issues and social work principles
