The Opportunity: Permit Technician

The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) is seeking a full-time Permit Technician for its Engineering and Development (E&D) Department. Located in the fast-growing Puget Sound region, AWWD is focused on the expansion, maintenance and replacement of its critical infrastructure. AWWD currently employs 160 employees, and the Development workgroup is responsible for review and approval of plans for developer water and sewer extension agreements. The Permit Technician reports to the Planning and Development Manager and is a key member of the E&D Department by assisting with and performing a variety of technical functions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing development related support including processing water meter and side sewer connection permits; assisting in the preparation of sewer and water availability responses; responding customer services inquiries; researching existing water and sewer facilities; and assisting Engineering and Development staff.

The Permit Technician must be committed to improving the workplace and providing strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to provide exceptional internal and external customer service. This individual should feel comfortable with computers and be able to successfully navigate and learn about various programs.

The pay range for this position is $81,099 - $108,659 annually, with a starting pay range of $81,099 - $93,870 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
