ALDIE COUNSELING CENTER
Dispensing Nurse
START TIME 5:00 a.m. until 12:30-1 p.m. Possibility of weekends in the future.
OFF Christmas Day, New Years Day, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, Labor Day and Memorial Day!!
Must be willing to drive 1-2x's week approximately 10 minutes away to a contracted site.

All nursing staff are trained at both Doylestown and Langhorne locations and may be required to cover based on staffing needs.
I. PURPOSE OF JOB
To provide professional nursing care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, to collaborate with the physician’s medical plan, and to execute the objectives and the policies of the agency.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assesses, plans, implements, documents, coordinates, and manages patient care according to department and agency standards.
Utilizes analytical skills to provide efficient patient care and be able to handle critical situations in a timely manner and safe manner.
Demonstrates ability to be technically competent in all psychomotor interventions when administering physical and psychological care to patients according to department specific skills checklist.
III. JOB CRITERIA AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Assesses patients assigned to his/her care:
Documents patient response to treatment and effectiveness of care.
Insures appropriate completion of chart and other documentation including transcription of physician orders and computer entry.
Evaluates, revises, and improves patient care using creative strategies, current research findings.

Recognizes legal responsibilities and functions within limitations as specified by the Nurse Practice Act.
Implements nursing/physician orders that result in achievement of organizational, nursing, and physician goals.
Demonstrates initiative and self-direction in completion of assigned responsibilities in accordance with program needs.
Utilizes effective interpersonal skills including interaction with staff through understanding, talking, hearing, seeing and listening.
Involves patient/significant other in all aspects of the plan of care, serving as advocate when necessary.
Consistently and continuously communicates, consults, and shares pertinent information regarding changes in patient status and patient care.
Uses interpersonal communication techniques that show a willingness to accept and give constructive feedback for the purpose of promoting professional excellence.
Effectively communicates pertinent patient/significant other information during daily report according to program standards.
Analyzes data and responds to unusual/undesirable clinical status by consulting appropriate personnel and taking appropriate action in a timely manner.
Maintains equipment in good working order, reports equipment failure, and initiates corrective action.
Demonstrates competency in maintaining specific technological skills required by job category and/or specialty area. (See Scope of Practice delineation in Standards Manual and/or related Policy and Procedure in the Policy and Procedure Manual).
Safely administers medications (Methadone and Subutex) as ordered according to program policy and formulary, using the five rights of the patient pertinent to safe medication administration.
Safely handles various types of drugs and body fluids, using knowledge of appropriate precautions.
Assists patients physically by providing physical support through pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, turning, kneeling, standing, sitting, and balancing, and psychologically by providing emotional intervention.
Demonstrates ability to perform with clinical proficiency in crises and medical emergencies.
Maintains technological competence through practice and ongoing participation in in-services and formalized professional conferences.
Follows staffing guidelines. In the interest of patient care, responds to changes or needs within the Nursing Division or nursing department by cooperating with staff rotation and weekend/holiday scheduling.
Identifies professional goals which reflect own strengths and weaknesses and seeks assistance for improvement of performance.
Completes quarterly inspection of all areas.
IV. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical Demands: Balancing, climbing, crawling, standing, turning, seeing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, color discrimination, pushing, pulling, handling, talking, hearing, and depth perception; lifting and carrying weights up to 35 pounds.
Aptitudes: Form perception, motor coordination, finger dexterity, computer/VDT ability, problem-solving, manual dexterity, and general learning ability.
Environmental Conditions: Exposure to fumes, exposure to blood and body fluids, exposure to chemicals, and noise or vibration.
V. QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education: 1. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
2. Current licensure as RN or LPN by State Board of Nursing,
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
B. Experience: Prefer 1-year experience working with chemically dependent clients but new graduates encouraged to apply.
C. Other Skills: 1. Certified in B.L.S. - C.P.R.
2. First Aid
