Job Title: Food Production Worker
Don's Prepared Foods, a family-owned business and leading manufacturer of gourmet deli salads, cream cheese spreads, dips, entrées, and more, is seeking skilled individuals for Food Production Workers (Salad Makers, Machine Operators, Salad Packers & Cooks) at its Schwenksville, PA food manufacturing plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Cook:
- Ensure all ingredients requiring cooking, blanching, and chilling are handled to protect food safety and meet Critical Control Points (CCP's).
- Prepare, cook, chill, and label food ingredients used in the Don's Salads product line according to internal recipes and production procedures.
- Defrost ingredients necessary for the following day's production.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment, especially for allergens, between cooks and at the end of the day.
- Comply with USDA, FDA, SQF, and HACCP regulations daily.
- Production Salad Maker:
- Salad Makers must adhere to approved recipes when formulating finished products.
- Scrutinize 'in process' products for irregularities and notify management immediately.
- Use manufacturing instructions on recipes to ensure proper ingredient proportions and order.
- Highlight recipe variations and inform the Raw Material Warehouse Coordinator.
- Measure the temperature of finished salads/cream cheese (USDA CCP 1) before dipping and note the temperature accordingly.
- Alert management of any product or ingredient above 40°F.
- Ensure vessels containing ingredients are covered and labeled with product ID and date.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Requirements:
- Ability to read, write, comprehend English, and follow recipes and understand proportions.
- Cooking knowledge and terminology.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Ability to lift 40-50 pounds consistently.
- Employee stands for long periods of time.
- Cook room is hot, production areas range from 34 to 38 degrees.
- Ability to push, pull, and mix product.
