Position Summary:
As a Director, R&D you will be responsible for providing technical and project leadership as well as individual support to the development and commercialization of Alembic products.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the design, development, and commercialization of products through Design Control
- Lead technology and product feasibility programs.
- Contribute throughout all R&D activities including activities such as testing and reporting through high level development product portfolios.
- Recruit, manage and develop engineers and technicians.
- Develop internal and external resources required for product and technology development.
- Effectively communicate with physicians and sales/marketing personnel as well as regulatory bodies (FDA)
- Execute activities in a collaborative manner.
- Resolve issues, identify, and improve efficiency and effectiveness of product and technology development.
- Lead and support development of IP, as needed.
- Participate in the strategic planning and budget process. Develop project schedules, budgets, and headcount requirements for R&D Projects
- Ensure quality assurance standards, guidance standards and regulatory requirements are achieved.
- Proactively support the company’s R&D goals and objectives, policies and procedures, the Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO/MDR regulations and other regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required (master’s degree or higher, preferred) with 12 years of relevant experience in an engineering discipline (ME, EE, BME, Materials Science, etc.) working with cardiovascular/neurovascular catheters.
- 7 years managing engineers and technicians.
- Experienced and comfortable in an entrepreneurial start-up environment
- Demonstrated success in developing products through commercialization and managing projects through Design Control
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Must have a sense of urgency, willingness to put in extended hours to achieve milestones.
- Positive attitude along with a demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Strong leadership, influencing and organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and professional conduct.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- MS Office, SolidWorks, and statistical software experience required.
- Ability to work full time onsite at our Mountain View, CA office.
Salary Range:
$185,000-$225,000 DOE
