Position Summary:

As a Director, R&D you will be responsible for providing technical and project leadership as well as individual support to the development and commercialization of Alembic products.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the design, development, and commercialization of products through Design Control
• Lead technology and product feasibility programs.
• Contribute throughout all R&D activities including activities such as testing and reporting through high level development product portfolios.
• Recruit, manage and develop engineers and technicians.
• Develop internal and external resources required for product and technology development.
• Effectively communicate with physicians and sales/marketing personnel as well as regulatory bodies (FDA)
• Execute activities in a collaborative manner.
• Resolve issues, identify, and improve efficiency and effectiveness of product and technology development.
• Lead and support development of IP, as needed.
• Participate in the strategic planning and budget process. Develop project schedules, budgets, and headcount requirements for R&D Projects
• Ensure quality assurance standards, guidance standards and regulatory requirements are achieved.
• Proactively support the company’s R&D goals and objectives, policies and procedures, the Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO/MDR regulations and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree required (master’s degree or higher, preferred) with 12 years of relevant experience in an engineering discipline (ME, EE, BME, Materials Science, etc.) working with cardiovascular/neurovascular catheters.
• 7 years managing engineers and technicians.
• Experienced and comfortable in an entrepreneurial start-up environment
• Demonstrated success in developing products through commercialization and managing projects through Design Control
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Must have a sense of urgency, willingness to put in extended hours to achieve milestones.
• Positive attitude along with a demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Strong leadership, influencing and organizational skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic, integrity, and professional conduct.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• MS Office, SolidWorks, and statistical software experience required.
• Ability to work full time onsite at our Mountain View, CA office.

Salary Range:

$185,000-$225,000 DOE
