Job Description: We’re seeking an experienced Financial Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate is someone who possesses strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and customer service skills. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with patients, providers, and insurance companies to complete the pre-certification process.
- Receives and processes insurance information and forms from patients and insurance companies.
- Provides cost estimates to patients.
- Assists patients with financial applications and arrangements.
- Collects amounts owed by patients from self-pay accounts after third-party benefits.
- Organizes repayment schedules as needed.
- Discusses payment arrangements with patients for outstanding balances.
- Counsels patients to ensure access to reimbursement programs and assistance available to those who qualify.
- Establishes and implements a collection system in accordance with facility policies.
- Collects and tracks insufficient checks.
- Assists in monthly close-out and running statements.
- Responds to inquiries and routes calls to other individuals as needed.
- Works with legal services as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as requested by the CEO.
- Evaluates a patient’s financial situation, including income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and debts, when applying for charity care/indigent care.
- Provides patients with written charity care eligibility determination letter/notification.
- Helps patients understand their insurance benefits and potential financial liability; explains insurance coverage, benefits, and payment options.
- Maintains accurate records of patient financial information and assistance application status; submits monthly financial tracking reports.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in medical insurance/billing/charity care
Schedule Details
- 40 hrs/week
- Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm
