Job Summary:
As a Bartender, you are responsible for crafting high-quality cocktails, serving beer and wine, engaging with guests, and maintaining a lively and inviting bar atmosphere. You must have strong knowledge of mixology, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. A successful bartender will be professional, efficient, and dedicated to creating a memorable experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities:
Drink Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and guest preferences.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits, including seasonal and specialty drinks.
- Ensure all drinks are properly garnished and presented attractively.
- Follow proper pouring and measuring techniques to maintain cost control and consistency.
- Adhere to all responsible alcohol service laws and company policies, checking guest identification when necessary.
Customer Service & Guest Engagement
- Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming bar environment.
- Engage with guests by making drink recommendations and answering questions about the menu.
- Provide quick and attentive service while managing multiple orders at once.
- Monitor guest behavior and ensure responsible alcohol service by recognizing signs of intoxication and refusing service when necessary.
- Create a fun, friendly atmosphere that encourages guests to return.
Bar Operations & Maintenance
- Set up and break down the bar before and after shifts, ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
- Maintain a well-stocked bar with all necessary ingredients, glassware, and garnishes.
- Clean bar area, utensils, and equipment regularly to meet health and safety standards.
- Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper food and beverage handling procedures.
- Assist with inventory management by tracking stock levels and reporting shortages to management.
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Process guest payments accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and tips in accordance with company policies.
- Balance cash drawer and reconcile sales at the end of each shift.
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work closely with servers, barbacks, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
- Communicate effectively with team members about drink orders and guest needs.
- Assist in training new bartenders and barbacks as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum Experience in Bartending in a high-volume setting preferred.
- Customer Service Skills: Outgoing personality with strong communication and people skills.
- Drink Knowledge: Solid understanding of cocktail recipes, beer, wine, and spirits.
- Efficiency: Ability to work quickly while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Cash Handling Skills: Experience with POS systems and handling transactions accurately.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy kegs, and carry trays of drinks.
- Work Availability: Must be available for flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Certifications: TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) and Food Handler’s Certification required (or must be obtained upon hiring).
