What are the responsibilities and job description for the Norfolk Water Meter Reader position at Alexanders Contract Services I?
Immediate positions are available for Water Meter Readers in Norfolk, VA. We have been in business since 1967 and read for numerous municipalities and privately owned companies in California, Florida, Texas, Virginia and Illinois.
The available position is to record usage of water meters through an electronic handheld device.
Skills:
- No experience necessary; we will teach you!
- High-School Diploma or GED
- Willingness to learn
- Able to accurately record data on an electronic device
- Positive-attitude
- Customer-service mindset
Duties:
- Accurately record water meter readings and in a timely manner using a small handheld computer, which weighs less than 10 pounds.
- Follow all safety and quality control measures.
- Positively interact with our customers
- Operate company vehicles and equipment safely. Each reader is either dropped off or drives from one work area to another entering and exiting the vehicle frequently.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Team Leader.

Schedule:

Work Location: On the road
Requirements:- Valid driver's license
- Clean background check, DMV report, and drug/alcohol screening
- Lift up to 45 lbs
- Available to work some overtime and Saturdays
- Ability to work on feet for 8 hours with repeated bending, crouching, and climbing outside, also must be able to walk 5-10 miles daily.
- Ability to work safely and record accurate data in a timely manner
