Intern in Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research
AstraZeneca Global Hub is an innovation-driven global biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of prescription medicines, primarily for the treatment of cardiovascular, renal and metabolic, respiratory and immunological, oncological and rare diseases.

Training through practical experience:
Throughout this internship, the primary focus will be on learning and skill development. The intern will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in health economics and outcomes research, with tasks designed to support their learning and adaptation to the position. The emphasis will be on active participation, collaboration, and supervised execution of responsibilities to foster a comprehensive understanding of the field.
Main responsibilities will be to support research initiatives and ongoing research projects in health economics and outcomes research, evaluating the value of new medical technologies by considering their clinical effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and broader societal impact. Such projects to support include:
Cost-Effectiveness Analysis: Conducting studies to assess the cost-effectiveness of healthcare
interventions compared to standard of care, developing economic models to simulate the long-term costs and outcomes associated with different healthcare interventions.
Real-World Evidence Studies: Designing real-world studies and analyzing real-world data to generate evidence on the clinical and economic outcomes of healthcare interventions in routine clinical practice.
Budget Impact Analysis: Estimating the potential financial impact of adopting a new health intervention within a specific healthcare system or payer setting.
Value Dossier Development: Compiling comprehensive evidence dossiers that communicate the clinical and economic value of a healthcare intervention to support market access and reimbursement decisions.
These projects typically involve collaboration with cross-functional teams, engagement with external stakeholders (e.g., healthcare providers, payers, regulatory authorities), and adherence to relevant guidelines and best practices in health economics and outcomes research.
Requirements Educational Background: A candidate pursuing a PhD program, having completed the second year within the health economics, outcomes research, public health, economics, or a related field.
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and modeling, as well as the ability to interpret and communicate complex data.
Research Skills: Experience or coursework in research methodologies, including study design, data collection, and analysis.
Understanding of Health Systems: Familiarity with healthcare systems, including knowledge of healthcare financing, reimbursement, and policy considerations.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey research findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Adaptability and Learning Orientation: Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new concepts, learn from experience, and apply feedback in a dynamic research environment.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in relevant software for data analysis and economic modeling.
Project Management Skills: Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
