Position Overview:The HR Manager will be responsible for performing detailed HR audits, focusing on identifying gaps in compliance, performance, and policy adherence among store managers. This role demands a sharp, no-nonsense approach to enforcing company interests. The ideal candidate will be hands-on in managing audits, conducting thorough investigations, and implementing corrective measures where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform In-Depth HR Audits: Conduct regular, hands-on audits of store managers, reviewing employment records, payroll accuracy, performance management practices, disciplinary actions, and compliance with company policies and labor laws.
- Audit Employee Documentation: Ensure all employee files are up-to-date and compliant with legal requirements, including contracts, certifications, and performance evaluations. Report any discrepancies and enforce corrective measures.
- Monitor and Enforce Policy Adherence: Evaluate how well store managers are enforcing and adhering to company policies, including attendance, disciplinary procedures, employee relations, and performance management systems.
- Investigate Non-Compliance: Identify, investigate, and document instances where managers have failed to comply with HR policies. Make recommendations for corrective actions, and follow up to ensure enforcement.
- Work with Legal on Compliance Issues: Collaborate closely with the legal team to manage complex employee issues, such as grievances, terminations, and legal compliance matters. Ensure all HR practices are in line with federal, state, and local laws.
- Develop and Implement Audit Tools: Create standardized tools and processes for conducting HR audits, ensuring that audits are thorough, consistent, and legally compliant.
- Report Findings to Leadership: Provide detailed audit reports to senior management, highlighting risks, non-compliance issues, and recommendations for improvements. Ensure follow-up actions are implemented.
- Manage Corrective Action Plans: When audit findings reveal deficiencies, collaborate with store managers to create and implement corrective action plans. Track progress and ensure resolutions are completed in a timely manner.
- Evaluate HR Practices: Continuously assess the effectiveness of HR processes in place at store locations and recommend improvements to align them with best practices and legal standards.
- Oversee Payroll and Benefits Audits: Ensure that store-level payroll processing and benefits administration are accurate, compliant, and properly documented.
- Maintain Employee Confidentiality: Handle sensitive audit findings with discretion, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of all HR records.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, including direct experience with HR auditing.
- Strong knowledge of HR law, including federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Proficiency in using UKG (or similar HRIS software) to manage HR data, conduct audits, and ensure compliance.
- Experience working with legal teams on employee relations and compliance issues.
- Ability to remain firm, impartial, and results-driven when conducting audits and enforcing compliance.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
