What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (East) position at Alfasigma USA, Inc.?
The Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for disseminating the science supporting Alfasigma USA’s Medical Food products, engaging in scientific exchange with Health Care Providers, Key Opinion Leaders and potential and actual clinical study investigators, generating insights around the product portfolio and developing and delivering internal training and other scientific materials. In addition this individual will support research projects as required. This individual has a matrix involvement with multiple internal stakeholders, including but not limited to Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations and the Commercial organization. This is a remote position based on the east coast and reporting into Bedminster, NJ. Preferred locations of Washington DC, Bedminster NJ, or Boston MA.

- Collaborate cross-functionally and within Medical Affairs to engage with investigators participating in clinical research and support study design, recruitment, selection, reporting and publication as appropriate
- In collaboration with vendor partner(s) develop a list of key opinion leaders surrounding distinct nutritional requirements in disease areas of interest to ALUSA
- Engage with identified key opinion leaders surrounding the science supporting the portfolio, including in advisory sessions, interviews and through scientific exchange inclusive of responses to unsolicited inquiries
- Develop and generate insights surrounding key opinion leader perceptions of the scientific data or relevant trends affecting Alfasigma USA’s product portfolio and disease areas of interest
- In coordination with agency partner(s) develop and ensure appropriate legal, medical and regulatory reviews of internal training content
- Present scientific trainings content (e.g. around mechanism of action) at identified internal company forums including but not limited to sales meetings and at company events
- Deliver training to speakers contracted to provide education surrounding Alfasigma USA’s product portfolio or disease states of interest as required
- Review escalated requests to provide medical responses from the internal team and/or medical information vendor(s)
- Perform literature searches and secondary research to identify data responsive to the request
- Develop truthful, balanced, non-misleading responses based on published scientific references and data on file addressing the request for scientific information
- Ensure timely delivery of the response in an appropriate channel (e.g. through meetings as requested)
- Document and perform the inquiry process in accordance with Alfasigma USA internal procedures and applicable legal requirements
- Advanced degree in a medical or related scientific field, with a preference for relevant terminal degrees (MD, Phd, PharmD, etc).
- At least ten years experience in a field medical role engaging in scientific exchange with HCPs
- At least ten years experience and/or interest in the design and operationalization of fit for purpose study designs (e.g. observational studies, collaborative research etc)
- Demonstrated ability to engage in Medical Strategy planning preferred
- Strong decision-making, negotiation, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, with strong PowerPoint presentation skills.
